A letter of sympathy for Mount Ontake from mayor Jenny

Good evening Mayor Masakatsu

Greetings from Lismore.

We are deeply sad to hear and see pictures of the disaster at Mount Ontake and the loss of lives in the eruption. It is a shocking catastrophe and we are thinking of you and Japanese people.

Our Council and the citizens of Lismore hope that the bodies of those who have lost their lives can be found and returned to their families and that those who have survived the eruption can recover in good health.

Our friendship means that when your people are suffering, we are sad for you.

御嶽山で大災害が起こり、この噴火により命が失われたことを聞き、また映像を見て、大変深い悲しみを感じています。衝撃的な大惨事に、私たちは、あなたをはじめとする日本の方々に思いを馳せています。

我々リズモー市役所職員一同ならびにリズモー市民は、亡くなった方々が発見されてご家族のもとに帰れること、そして助かった方々が元気を取り戻してくださることを望んでいます。

友情とは、あなたが苦しんでいる時に、私たちもその悲しみを共感することです。
